This disease is characterized by symptoms such as spontaneous muscle contractions, tremors, and spasms. It's strongly linked to disorders in the mechanisms that regulate the plasticity of neuronal networks. Our research aimed to compare the normal form of hippocalcin with the disease-associated N75K mutant in a model of long-term synaptic depression, a crucial form of long-term neuronal plasticity. Our preliminary results suggest that the N75K mutation significantly disrupts the ability of hippocalcin to insert into membranes. We found that both the area of insertions along neuronal dendrites and the amount of hippocalcin at the insertion sites were significantly reduced in the disease- associated mutant Product Description popup.authors Bilan Pavlo V.
