Study of the influence of the external magnetic field on the dynamics of plasma streams and the process of formation of the compression zone. popup.description2  The effect of an external longitudinal magnetic field on a self-compressed quasi-stationary plasma flow generated by a high-current plasmadynamic system, a magnetoplasma compressor (MPC), was studied. The spatial distribution of electromagnetic forces, electric potential, and current in the flow, which are critically important for understanding the mechanisms of plasma compression, acceleration, and stabilization, was analyzed. A decrease in the number of current vortices, a "displacement" of electric current isolines, and an increase in the radial component of the electromagnetic force near the compression zone were found. This indicates a significant increase in flow compression and improved plasma parameters in the compression zone when an external magnetic field is applied. These results significantly expand the possibilities of optimizing plasmadynamic devices, increasing their efficiency for use in energy, materials science, and plasma physics.
