For this purpose, the natural raw material of bentonite clay was purified to obtain the mineral montmorillonite, and its structure and chemical composition were investigated. The methodical aspects of modifying montmorillonite with an inhibitory phase using chemical and mechanochemical methods were worked out, and the elemental composition and structure of modified montmorillonite were established.
