The purpose of the research is to increase the efficiency of the Department of the Main Inspection and Human Rights of the National Police of Ukraine in performing its tasks of protecting the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of police officers. The subject of the research is the legal and organisational mechanisms of legal protection of police officers in Ukraine. The methodological basis of the study is a set of general scientific and special scientific methods and techniques of scientific knowledge. In the course of the scientific research, the author reveals the concept and essence of legal protection of police officers in Ukraine; identifies the content and scope of certain rights and freedoms of police officers, and identifies certain legal and organisational issues which impede the effective exercise and protection of these rights and freedoms. Based on the results of the study, the author prepared an analytical review with proposals for improving the legal and organisational mechanisms of legal protection of police officers in Ukraine.
