The subject of research is active loops for reducing the power frequency magnetic field. The purpose of research is to increase the efficiency of active shields when normalizing the magnetic field of built-in transformer substations. To increase the energy efficiency of active shield, the corresponding optimization problem is solved. The solution is performed under the conditions of mitigating the magnetic field of the built-in transformer substation to a regulated safe level and minimizing the active power of the shield. It is shown that the increase of number of direct sections (forming the closed current-carrying circuit of the active shield) leads to the increase of shield energy efficiency. Thus, increasing the number of sections from 4 to 6 allows reducing the energy consumption of the active shield by 37.4%. Compared with known active shields, the energy consumption of the proposed one, consisting of 6 sections, is reduced by 7.9 times. The scientific novelty of the research contains the developed algorithm for determining the initial parameters of the active shield, which are used when solving a highly nonlinear problem of their optimization, which is performed under the conditions of reducing the magnetic field of the built-in transformer substation to a regulated safe level and minimizing the active power of the active shield.
