The reserve is being created to preserve the valuable landscape complex of lowland peatlands and meadow ecosystems in the valley of the Yarychivka River (Yarychiv Canal) on the Hryadovy Pobuzhzh, which includes a mosaic of habitats of permanent and temporary reservoirs, mesophytic and humid grassy, ​​wet wax-grass meadows, floodplain and swampy shrubs and especially valuable in both Ukraine and Europe sedge carbonate bogs of sphagnum mosses. Rare and endangered species of plants and animals from the Bern and Bonn lists are widespread and occur in this territory. Washington Conventions and Annexes I and II of the Habitats Directive of the European Union, some of which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. The choice of the category "landscape reserve" is due to the need to ensure comprehensive protection of existing marsh, meadow and aquatic natural habitats and their biodiversity as a single integral and interconnected landscape.
