The report presents the results of experimental, analytical and numerical studies of energy and food equipment in order to increase its efficiency, reliability and durability. In particular, the simulation of the shaft line of the turbine with a capacity of 200 MW was carried out to study its vibrations that occur when connecting the turbine generator to the network, and the residual durability of the shaft line was calculated taking into account these vibrations. The developed method of wear resistance research made it possible to study the influence of the working environment and working conditions of friction units (sliding speed, specific load) on the nature and intensity of steel wear and friction coefficient. One of the problems of modern mechanical engineering is considered to increase the reliability and durability of parts and components of mechanisms, along with a constant decrease in the metal capacity of structures. The urgency of the problem is constantly increasing due to increased requirements for the manufacturing of products, the necessity to save scarce precious non-ferrous metals and alloys and, as a result, replace them with an economically more profitable option.
