According to various authors, the frequency of occurrence of POKD ranges from 7 to 83%, depending on various factors - the time of their evaluation, the type of surgical intervention, the presence of concomitant diseases, the correct assessment of test results, their sensitivity, etc. In otorhinolaryngological practice, the frequency of POKD after surgery for cochlear implantation is 11.5%, determined by the change in the Z number in the MoCA scale ≥ 1.96. Therefore, the data available in the world literature on the prevalence of POCD vary greatly, and the existing data on the frequency of occurrence of POCD after otolaryngological surgical interventions are insufficient. Although the quality of perioperative management of patients has significantly improved over the past decades, POCD remains a frequent pathology, which can lead not only to a decrease in patient satisfaction with treatment, but also to a decrease in long-term quality of life, an increase in the length of hospitalization, the risk of other postoperative complications, and even mortality.
