In conclusion, the project aims to estimate the volumes and prospects of obtaining biofuel based on B. carinata oil in Ukraine, based on the data obtained during the implementation of the project. popup.description2  During the first stage of the project, genetic, morphological, and biochemical characteristics of various Brassica carinata genotypes were investigated. Molecular genetic analysis using intron length polymorphism (ILP) of β-tubulin genes confirmed the genetic uniqueness of 8 studied lines. Morphological analysis identified the most productive lines (BCAR-BL-5 and BCAR-BL-7) with high yield and biomass characteristics. Oil samples were prepared for chromatographic analysis through mechanical pressing and petroleum ether extraction. Gas-liquid chromatographic analysis determined the fatty acid composition of the studied genotypes. The highest linolenic acid content was found in samples BCAR-BL-5 and BCAR-BL-7, erucic acid in sample BCAR-BL-1, and oleic acid in samples BCAR-BL-1 and BCAR-BL-8. Linoleic acid showed consistent levels across all genotypes. The results highlight significant genotypic variability in fatty acid composition and enable the selection of optimal lines for further oil transesterification. Promising endogenous lipases were identified, which may facilitate efficient enzymatic conversion of oil into biodiesel. The findings provide a solid foundation for the next research stage, focused on producing biofuel through lipase-mediated transesterification. Product Description popup.authors Blium Rostyslav Ya.
