Purpose - to substantiate the indicators of essential performance characteristics of construction products related to the main requirement for ensuring fire safety of buildings and structures, and to express them in levels or classes or descriptions. Research methods: analytical, expert evaluation. Based on the results of analytical studies of the provisions and requirements of the European and national legislative, regulatory and normative frameworks related to the basic requirement for ensuring fire safety of buildings, it was found that the state building codes DBN B.1.2-7:2021 “Basic Requirements for Buildings and Structures. Fire Safety” does not disclose the essential performance characteristics of construction products in terms of reaction to fire and resistance to external fire impact, does not fully disclose the essential performance characteristic - fire resistance, which, accordingly, hinders the introduction of a fire classification harmonized with the European one, as provided for by Ukrainian legislation. The above necessitated the introduction of appropriate amendments to DBN B.1.2-7:2021. Based on the results of the research, a draft Amendment No. 1 to DBN B.1.2-7:2021 was developed, which will establish and clarify the following indicators of essential performance characteristics of construction products harmonized with the European fire classification: reaction to fire, resistance to external fire, fire resistance, as well as bring the national regulatory framework in the field of construction in line with current legislation, which will facilitate the design and construction of buildings and structures at the modern level and ensure improvement of their operational reliability.
