The purpose of this paper: is to form a cohort for observation and select data for further analysis. Study methods: documentary analysis, software technological methods, demographic, mathematical and statistical, graphic, comparison and generalization. Results. It was found that the number of PACL decreased over the period of the study both in the country as a whole and in the regions. It was outlined that factors for the decrease in their number were natural loss, migration and under-reporting. It was found that the existing certain disproportion in the gender-age structure of the PACL was a consequence of the peculiarities of the formation of the cohort and its aging, which caused: an extremely high share of men in the cohort; a disproportionately high percentage of men aged 35–39 (25.2 %) and women aged 60–64 (20.5 %) in the first years after the accident; hypertrophy (exceeding) of the share of persons who are out of working-age range in recent years (58.6 % of men and 71.0 % of women). Information was obtained from the electronic databases of the SRU on the number and distribution of living PACL by gender and age (at one-year intervals) and those who died from injury, poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes (2006–2017 – codes S00–T98; V01–Y99 (ICD–10); 1988–2005 – codes 160–175, 186–195 (ICD–9), as of the end of the year, by region). A primary table of deaths in PACL from the causes under study by country for 1988–2017 was created in Excel: 7,771 cases (7,667 in men (98.7 %). Six information databases were created in Excel for further statistical analysis.
