Registration Date 16-01-2025 Organization State institution "Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology, National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description1 To improve the methods of treatment and rehabilitation of persons with disorders due to alcohol consumption based on the study of the pathomorphosis of these disorders in war conditions popup.description2  The object of the study is the pathomorphosis of alcohol use disorders and methods of treatment of alcohol use disorders in Ukraine in the conditions of war. The purpose of the research is to improve the methods of treatment and rehabilitation of people with alcohol use disorders based on the study of the pathomorphosis of these disorders in war conditions. Research methods: clinical and psychopathological, psychometric, analytical, neuroethological, neurophysiological, biochemical, mathematical and statistical. It has been established that the course of alcohol use disorders in modern conditions has certain features: a high level of emotional stress underlies the craving for alcohol; inability to cope with chronic stress; misconception about the possibility of self-medication with alcohol; dysphoric forms of intoxication, aggressive behaviour, combined course of alcohol dependence with depressive, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and other adaptation disorders. A positive effect of exogenous DHEA on the zoosocial behaviour of alcohol-dependent rats was shown, i.e. restoration of the structure of emotional zoosocial relations in mature rats and formation of a natural structure of emotional zoosocial behaviour in pubertal animals similar to mature rats. The experimentally proven neuroprotective effects of intranasal administration of steroid hormones: progesterone (160 mcg) and DHEA (180 mcg) are promising approaches to the correction of emotional, motivational, cognitive and social behaviour disordered by alcohol consumption, which has been confirmed in the clinic. The developed treatment regimen with DHEA (25 mg/day in the morning) has a positive effect on the dynamics of psychopathological symptoms in combatants, a sufficient anti-craving effect and can be used at the stages of active and supportive anti-alcohol treatment of servicemen who have suffered psychological trauma in war.
