The purpose of the work at this stage is experimental study of a coaxial magnetic system of a plasma accelerator with a closed electron drift, suitable for generating electromagnetic force in a rarefied plasma flow. Research methods are experimental. Patent research of methods of creating electromagnetic forces suitable for forced braking of space debris objects in the Earth’s ionosphere is performed. A preliminary design of a coaxial magnetic system of a plasma accelerator with a closed electron drift is performed and three experimental models are manufactured. The structure of the magnetic field of coaxial magnetic systems with permanent magnets is experimentally investigated. The dependences of the electromagnetic drag force generated by a coaxial magnetic system with 20 permanent magnets interacting with a rarefied plasma flow on the discharge current and ion concentration is determined on the plasma electrodynamic stand. Experimental dependences of the electromagnetic drag force generated by coaxial magnetic systems with central cylindrical permanent magnets with a diameter of 40 mm and 55 mm in a supersonic plasma flow on the discharge current and ion concentration are obtained. The research results can be applied to the forced electromagnetic braking of space debris objects in the ionosphere and upper atmosphere of the Earth. The socio-economic importance of this work is in solving the current problem of today - preventing pollution and cleaning the near-Earth space from space debris objects using electromagnetic forces.
