The commercial preparation Piophage® was used as a viral-containing fluid,. Photosensitizing substances were identified. The phage sensitivity of 509 clinical strains of bacteria was investigated. It was found that 47.7% of clinical isolates of E. coli, 7.6% of P. aeruginosa isolates, and 52% of S. aureus isolates were highly sensitive to Piophage®. The possibility of photo-inactivation of phage strains using solutions of riboflavin, riboflavin manadione sodium sulphate, and pyridoxine hydrochloride, or their mixture (1:1:1) at various concentrations (from 2×10^-4% to 2×10^-6%) and various modes of ultraviolet irradiation (UVO) and blue light (BL) was studied. The best inactivation parameters for the viral-containing material were obtained with the application of 0.02% and 0.01% solutions of the mixture of riboflavin, riboflavin manadione sodium sulphate, and pyridoxine hydrochloride (1:1:1) as photosensitizers under UVO for 15 minutes and 25 minutes during BL treatment. To bring the conditions of photodynamic inactivation of the viral-containing material closer to production conditions, experiments were conducted in volumes of 100 ml. Sterile disposable PVC blood bags were used for this purpose. The optimal conditions were: UVO (15 and 25 minutes) and concentrations of the mixture (1:1:1) of photosensitizers (0.02% and 0.01%). The reversion of the activity of phages did not occur over three months. Studies on the allergenicity of the obtained PDM inactivated viral-containing samples in a conjunctival test conducted on 15 animals yielded negative results. A scheme for the photo-inactivation of viral-containing material is proposed, which can be used in for the development of particulate vaccine preparations.
