Object of research: the learning process in geography in general education institutions. Subject of research: the content of geography teaching in grades 7-9 of general education institutions. At the search and modelling stage in the research process, it was established that the content of geography teaching in grades 7-9 of general secondary education institutions is based on the principles of an activity approach. The scientific novelty of the research results lies in the development of a new content program for grades 7-9 of general education institutions. The relevant provisions are covered in the content of the curriculum for the 7th grade, the Geography textbook for the 7th grade, and in professional publications. The scientific literature on the topic of the study was analyzed: 157 sources, including foreign (English- and Spanish-speaking), as well as the content of state documents of the State Standardization Agency (2020), the Concept of Science and Mathematics Education (STEM Education), typical curricula, a model curriculum in geography for grades 6-9. An analysis of the scientific thesaurus of the study was carried out: the concepts of "activity-based learning", "active learning", "design", "learning content", "methodology of teaching geography in secondary education institutions" were clarified. A new formulation of the scientific term "construction of the content of geography teaching" has been defined. Selection criteria have been developed for the implementation of the designed content of geography teaching in grades 7-9 of general secondary education institutions. A geography curriculum for grades 7 has been created, approved and implemented in the educational process of secondary education institutions. A textbook for grade 7 “Geography” has been published.
