Internality of failures negatively affects resilience, hinders its manifestation, as it is accompanied by self-blame and perfectionism, which leads to helplessness, psychosomatic problems, and destructive behavior. In turn, general internality promotes adaptive control, the desire to take responsibility for one's actions and decisions, the ability to achieve set goals and the desired result; control over actions during planning reduces stress, provides the individual with the awareness that not everything can be controlled, provides the opportunity to adequately assess the degree of one's influence on the situation, minimizes internal stress; and extraversion contributes to maintaining the individual's optimism. It was found that a balanced locus of control is necessary to maintain resilience and strengthen mental health. Methodological recommendations have been developed that outline ways to form a stable balance of the locus of control necessary to maintain internal equilibrium and mental health of Ukrainian youth in war conditions; reveal the most effective psychological methods for overcoming the consequences of trauma, and also identify special psychological techniques based on mechanisms of retroactive interference to eliminate intrusive unpleasant memories and transform negative experiences.
