The studies included X-ray phase analysis, microstructure analysis before and after etching, and energy dispersive spectral analysis of the distribution of chemical elements along the radius of the ingots. Phase composition studies showed that the ingots consist mainly of α-Ti and β-Ti, containing 7.13 and 6.32%, respectively. Microstructure studies showed that ingots obtained by double electroslag remelting, in comparison with ingots obtained by single electroslag remelting, have a more uniform structure throughout the cross section with a smaller grain size. The microhardness of HV01 β-Ti is slightly higher than that of α-Ti and in both ingots is 2750 and 2400 MPa, respectively. The overall microhardness HV1 is more uniform in the ingot obtained by double electroslag remelting with subsequent forging and is on average 2850 MPa over the entire radius. The results of chemical analysis indicate the content of such alloying components in the ingots as aluminum, manganese, zirconium, silicon and iron. Their distribution over the radius of the ingot is uniform in both samples. Taking into account the results of the research and the experience gained from conducting ESH experiments on titanium alloys, proposals have been prepared for the industrial implementation of the technology for obtaining ingots of titanium alloys of the OT4 grade by the chamber ESH method.
