Study purpose - to investigate growth reactions and stress-protective systems of winter food rapeseed cultivars with low contents of erucic acid and glucosinolates (00-type) and winter industrial rapeseed cultivars with high contents of erucic acid and low contents of glucosinolates (+0-type) under the influence of abiotic environmental factors, in particular, simulated drought. Study methods - vegetative surveys upon artificial vernalization of plants and under simulated drought (impact of PEG 8000); determination of amounts of proline, sugars and malondialdehyde (MDA) in seedlings; monitoring of growth reactions to stress. Theoretical and practical results - By growth reactions, cv. ‘Rodolad’ showed the highest relative tolerance. Cultivars ‘Demerka’ and ‘Samo’ appeared to be medium-tolerant. The greatest inhibition of growth was observed in cv. ‘Chempion Ukrainy’. In all cultivars affected by simulated drought, the sugar content per dry matter was decreased. The proline content was increased in cvs. ‘Rodolad’ and ‘Samo’. In general, cv. ‘Rodolad’ was distinguished due to the greatest growth reaction and accumulation of high amounts of osmolytes (soluble carbohydrates and proline). A useful model for “Method of Increasing the Oil Content and Yield of Rapeseed” has been submitted to the UANIPIO. Application registration number is u 2024 02942 dated 06/03/2024. It is currently undergoing a qualifying examination. “Catalogue of Winter Rapeseed Cultivars and Domestic and Wild Species of the Brassicaceae Family” has been compiled. Fifty-four winter rapeseed cultivars are characterized in terms of valuable economic characteristics, drought tolerance, and winter period in the central and eastern forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. Twelve wild species and 14 domestic representatives of the Brassicaceae family are characterized in terms of valuable traits.
