Ki67 Labeling Index (Ki67 LI) The aim of the study is to continue monitoring the incidence of thyroid cancer in children and adolescents of Ukraine affected by the Chornobyl accident, to determine the possible associations between proliferative activity, tumors invasive properties, the presence of BRAFV600E mutation and the development of disease recurrence in radiogenic and sporadic PTCs in patients of different ages. Methods of the study - morphological, immunohistochemical, statistical. Results: Increased Ki67 LI in radiogenic and sporadic PTCs of young patients aged up to 29 years is unidirectionally associated with smaller tumor size, dominant papillary growth pattern, oncocytic changes, and more frequent BRAFV600E mutation. Similar associations also extended to radiogenic PTCs of patients aged up to 49 years at operation. In radiogenic PTCs, unlike sporadic ones, an increase in Ki67 LI is associated with a worse postoperative prognosis, namely with an increase in the probability of developing recurrent metastases, including radioiodine-refractory ones, which is associated, in turn, exclusively with the BRAFV600E negative status of PTC. BRAFV600E positive PTC, regardless of their etiology and age of patients at the time of surgery, are associated with a higher Ki67 LI compared to BRAFV600E negative tumors, but its further increase does not affect the clinical and histopathological indicators of PTC and the prognosis of the disease. Implementation effectiveness: Improvement of diagnostics, treatment tactics and postoperative prognosis of radiogenic PTC considering the impact of increased Ki67 LI on BRAFV600E negative tumors. Implementation level: papers, presentations, Field of use: endocrinology, pathology, oncology, radiation medicine. Product Description popup.authors Bolhov Mykhailo Yu. Burko Svitlana V.
