Komissarenko Institute Of Endocrinology And Metabolism of The National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine" popup.description1 To determine the state of the reproductive system in men who became ill with COVID-19 at different times after recovery. popup.description2 As a result of the research conducted, it was determined that in men who contracted COVID-19 during the acute phase and six months after recovery, there was a significant decrease in the concentration of total testosterone in the blood. Two to three years after recovery, the average testosterone levels were normalized, although in some patients, they remained low, requiring testosterone replacement therapy. A significant increase in the average levels of LH (Luteinizing Hormone) and FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone) was observed in men during the acute phase of COVID-19, indicating the development of primary hypogonadism. Six months after recovery, the average levels of LH and FSH remained significantly elevated. Two to three years post-recovery, the levels of LH and FSH were not significantly different from the normal range. A significant decrease in integrated indicators of erectile function was confirmed in some men who had recovered from COVID-19. The use of a combination of high doses (6 g per day) of L-arginine and regular administration of low doses (25 mg per day) of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors demonstrated higher effectiveness compared to the group of patients who used phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors inhibitors only before sexual intercourse. Six months after recovery, men who had survived COVID-19 showed a significant decrease in the average number of motile sperm and an increase in the number of dead sperm forms and leukocytes in the ejaculate. These changes persisted in the patients for up to two years after recovery. Examination three years or more after recovery showed normalization of the above-mentioned indicators, except for the number of non-viable sperm   Product Description popup.authors Zubkova Halyna A.
