Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine popup.description1 Вook science researches of retrospective historical and cultural collections of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU), and, on its basis – the development of book science and book monument studies as the scientific disciplines and the field of practical work with specialized historical and cultural collections (recording, description, preservation); the study of national book science historiography. popup.description2 The main results of this work, reflected in 12 scientific publications, 455 articles or conference abstracts, including 20 articles indexed in international scientometric databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, and 244 presentations at conferences and other academic events. The objects of study primarily included Ukrainian old-printed books, starting with the works of Ivan Fedorov published between 1574 and 1581; Ukrainian Baroque-era old prints, where elements of the Baroque style have been identified and introduced into scholarly circulation; publications from the Univ Printing House of the 18th century; and the works of prominent figures of Ukrainian culture from the 17th and 18th centuries. The second area of research focuses on the study of library collections from the 18th to the early 20th centuries, including private collections, as well as the libraries of Orthodox and Catholic monasteries and religious educational institutions. This research has resulted in the preparation of a monograph on the libraries of the Lutsk/Lutsk-Zhytomyr Diocese in the 18th and 19th centuries; two volumes of the reference guide “Historical Library Collections and Holdings in the Funds of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine”; and a monograph on the library of the Kyiv Commercial Institute from 1906 to 1919. A comprehensive study of European engraved portraits from the 17th to the 19th centuries has been completed. The first part of the catalog of unique Ukrainian polyphonic (partesny) music has been introduced into scholarly circulation. The compilation of bibliographic indexes for the holdings of the Department of Foreign Ukrainian Studies has also been completed, including educational publications used by the Ukrainian diaspora throughout the 20th century, as well as the contents of the rare publication “Za derzhavnist”.
