The purpose of the work is the development and mathematical modeling of biomass conversion processes and new bioenergy plants for the production of renewable gases and torrefied biofuel, combustion of solid biofuels. Research methods are analytical, theoretical and experimental. Experimental and thermogravimetric studies of torrefaction of wood pellets by the oxidative pyrolysis method were performed. A new method of torrefied biofuel production was substantiated and developed, which, unlike existing ones, provides for the joint production of biochar and torrefied biofuel and increases the energy efficiency of the torrefaction process by combining an oxidative pyrolysis reactor and a screw torrefier in one technological scheme. Based on the analysis of the global trend of the bioenergy sector development in the long term, the refined methodology for calculating the technically achievable energy potential of biogas and the modern methodology for calculating greenhouse gas emissions, the greenhouse gas emissions were determined when using technically available biomass for biogas/biomethane production. The analysis of the characteristic ash melting temperatures, ash chemical composition and its agglomeration and slagging indices was carried out. It was shown that during low-temperature layered combustion of straw pellets, the interaction of two factors is observed that prevent pellet sintering and agglomeration.
