Cross-shaped waves are waves perpendicular to the direction of motion of the wave generator. Although they are well known at least from the famous work of M. Faraday in 1831, their analysis has great mathematical difficulties caused by the fact that linearized equations do not describe the mechanism of their occurrence and the transfer of energy from the motion of the wave generator in this type of wave. In this report, the existence of cross-shaped waves without taking into account other surface waves will be shown for the first time in the case when the geometry of the pool is such that the fluctuations of the mean level are negligibly small.
