The purpose is to conduct comparative research on the effect of combined chromium oxide and zircon additive amounts on the main properties of high-alumina ramming mass on a phosphate binder. Research methods were physical-chemical, thermomechanical, and petrographic. The influence of the combined chromium oxide and zircon additive amount in the composition of high-alumina ramming mass on phosphate binder on the main properties of green samples compared to the properties of mass without additive was studied. It was established that using this additive in the mass composition contributes to an increase in the density and strength of the green samples compared to the same properties of the basic composition mass. The influence of the heat treatment temperature (1100, 1580 °C) and the combined additive amount on the main properties of the mass compared to the mass without the additive was studied. It was found that the mass samples with the maximum amount of the additive have the highest properties: the strength and density of the samples increase by ~ 34 % and 6 %, respectively, and their open porosity decreases by 14.6 % compared to the samples of the basic composition mass. Samples of developed ramming mass are characterized by a slight change in linear dimensions, which is important when manufacturing lining from ramming masses. A new product type was developed — high-alumina ramming mass with a combined chromium oxide and zircon additive on a phosphate binder. Pilot batches of alumina-silica concrete mixtures, mortars, and mullite-corundum ramming masses were manufactured at the JSC “URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy”.
