The method of measuring populist orientations was empirically tested on the basis of three national surveys. The majority of Ukrainians profess anti-elitist orientations. At the same time, the population will not agree with the absolute primacy of the people's sovereignty and the expediency of breaking the law in order to achieve a political result. Support for populism in Ukraine is primarily concentrated in those strata of the population that live mainly in small settlements, are less educated, financially insecure and therefore prefer to rely on the state to ensure the standard of living and seek to transfer political responsibility to an authoritarian way of governing.
