The main factors determining the formation of the structure of benthic invertebrates have been determined: water salinity and the origin of water bodies (artificial or natural). A comparative analysis of the main abiotic factors and taxonomic characteristics of phytoplankton in different ecosystems of the Dnieper River has been carried out, including the main cascade of the Kyiv Reservoir and the natural Dnieper Estuary; changes in the trophic state of the hydroecosystem from mesotrophic (at the stage of an unregulated river) to eutrophic (currently) have been determined, depending on the intensity of cyanobacteria development; changes in the hydrological regime of the lower reaches of the Dnieper River have been determined as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP dam in June 2023, the changes affected all the main factors of the functioning of the aquatic ecosystems of the region; a forecast of changes in the saturation of the Dnieper floodplain with algocenoses after the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP dam in the context of food security in southern Ukraine has been established; the influence of hydrochemical indicators of ponds on the quality of fish stock in conditions of fish breeding plants in southern Ukraine was established; the peculiarities of nutrition of the industrial silver carp herd of the Dnieper Estuary were established; the loss of ecosystem services of the Kakhovka reservoir due to the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP dam in June 2023 was analyzed. The state and prospects for the development of local amateur and industrial fishing were assessed.
