The subject of the study is the dominant development of the Ukrainian state, patterns and specific features of the transformation of Ukraine's foreign policy course. The aim is to determine the place and role of Ukraine in the system of international relations, the main trends and features of Ukraine's foreign policy by analysing the content and nature of relations between different countries and Ukraine, identifying priorities, achievements, problems of cooperation and prospects for Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO. The following research methods were used to solve the tasks: historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological and historical-systemic. The theoretical achievements of the proposed research are embodied in a number of publications - articles, textbooks, monographs, conference abstracts - that reveal the theoretical basis, methodology and results of the study in the context of the history of international relations. The main theoretical provisions of the research work fill a number of gaps in the national historical science and give a better understanding of the specifics of the historical process. Thus, the novelty of the proposed research is that the teachers of the Department of History of Ukraine conducted a comprehensive study of a wide range of historical issues concerning the role and place of Ukraine in the system of international relations from ancient times to the present. The practical value lies in a comprehensive and prognostic analysis of the impact of globalisation processes on the formation of our state and the geopolitical stability of the international system.
