The objectives of the study are to conduct technical and economic assessments of technologies and measures for decarbonization of the electricity sector and the most energy-intensive industries; to formulate directions for decarbonization of the electricity sector and energy-intensive industries of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of national environmental policy and international obligations. The subject of the study is measures and technologies for decarbonizing the electricity sector and the most energy-intensive industries. Research methods: system analysis, analytical and statistical method, life cycle assessment method, direct accounting method. It has been determined that the greatest effect on reducing greenhouse gas emissions can be achieved by: introducing carbon capture and storage technologies and increasing the share of NPPs and RES in the electricity sector; introducing carbon capture and storage technologies in cement and ammonia production; increasing the volume of electric steel production and introducing direct reduction technology in ferrous metallurgy. The introduction of hydrogen technologies in industry is one of the most promising ways to decarbonize, but it requires significant additional electricity and investment.
