SPELEORESOURCE POTENTIAL, CAVES, CHERNIVTSI REGION, ECOLOGICAL STATE, RECREATION. The object of the research is the natural and artificial caves of the Chernivtsi region in the context of their use. The goal of the research is to collect information on the current state of natural and artificial caves in the Chernivtsi region and develop recommendations for their environmental protection and tourist use. As a result of the research, a database (cadastre) of speleological objects (caves) of the Chernivtsi region was formed, indicating their coordinates, cadastral number, cavity type, length and amplitude (depth), maps and brief descriptions of the largest of them. A broader description is given for several caves, and an assessment of their current ecological state was made. It was determined which of them are habitats for vertebrates (mainly bats) and invertebrates and, therefore, are subject to protection. A methodology for the recreational assessment of caves in the region was proposed, and a corresponding evaluation of the largest caves was carried out.
