Weld models of fragments of rocket and space technology products and study the microstructure and mechanical properties of welded joints. popup.description2  An industrial technology for electron beam welding (EBW) of rocket and space technology components made of high-strength aluminum alloys has been developed. The mechanical properties of welded joints of alloys 2219, 1460, and 1570 were studied. For alloy 2219 artificial aging after welding increases the joint strength from 308 MPa to 388 MPa. For alloy 1570 artificial aging at 350°C for 1 hour allows the joint strength to reach the level of the base metal. To improve the mechanical properties during EBW of alloy 1460, a filler material of alloy 1201 should be used. The tensile strength of the weld metal increases from 315 MPa to 352 MPa. A computer program for designing beam scanning patterns has been developed based on a mathematical model of EBW, which predicts the shape of the penetration zone and ensures defect-free welds.
