As a result of the conducted research, the most significant general somatic risk factors for the development of diabetic retinopathy were determined, scientific data on the peculiarities of local hemodynamics of the eye and orbit of patients with type 2 diabetes were clarified. The diagnostic significance of single-nucleotide variants of genes rs1799983 and rs2070744 of the endothelial NO-synthase gene in primary open-angle glaucoma was established. The "hereditarily determined" age of patients at which one or another stage of primary open-angle glaucoma should be expected in the presence of one of the risk alleles was calculated.
