Purpose - to identify the problems and obstacles to innovation in the city's industry, ways and tools to stimulate the development of innovation-oriented industrial enterprises in Kyiv. Research methods: a set of general scientific methods: system analysis, synthesis, logical generalisation, as well as methods of comparison and expert evaluation. The article analyses the innovative development of Ukraine based on the data of the Global Innovation Index for 2023, the state of innovation activity in Ukraine and Kyiv, in particular, the activity of start-ups as a modern form of its launch. Defined:  mechanisms of state support for innovation activities;  directions of development of an innovative economy in the capital;  tools to stimulate the city's innovation activity to restore its economy during the war;  tasks for the industrial complex of the capital to restore economic opportunities lost as a result of the war. Suggested improvements:  financial and credit support for small and medium-sized enterprises with a focus on supporting start-up projects, including defence projects;  organisational mechanism for stimulating innovation in Kyiv and its implementation in the municipal economy by optimising the structure of the KCSA Based on the results of the research, proposals have been developed to intensify innovation processes and create conditions for restoring the economic opportunities of Ukraine and Kyiv, which were lost as a result of Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.
