An optimization model for determining the nominal capacity of an energy storage unit (ESU) that transfers excess electrical energy from a solar power plant (SPP) within a group of distributed generation power plants has been developed for the first time. A mathematical model for localizing meteorological environmental parameters based on a satellite data grid, built using the group argument accounting method, has been developed. The parameters of the ESU determined on the basis of the developed optimization model, when transferring about 9.0% of the total volume of electricity generated to the SPP in time, will ensure a reduction in the weighted average cost of electricity for consumers (LCOES) during the entire period of commercial operation as part of distributed generation power plants by 8.2% (from 147.9 to 136.7 €/MWh) and a reduction in capital expenditures (CAPEX) in total for all power plants and UZE by 44.2% (from 38.1 to 26.4 million euros).
