The purpose of the work is to increase the efficiency of responding to man-made emergency situations due to a fire at an oil storage facility through the optimal selection of forces and means for cooling nearby tanks. Research methods – analytical and numerical research methods were used; modeling of the heating of a tank with an oil product under the thermal influence of a fire was carried out on the basis of the theory of heat and mass transfer; methods of similarity theory were used to estimate the coefficient of convection heat exchange between the tank and the gas or liquid medium; the finite difference method was used to solve the system of heat transfer differential equations.
