The shape of the worn surface of the diamond wheel is achieved when the balls are based on one-point or two-point contact and circular feed without oscillation of the balls. Grinding modes (frequency of circular feed of workpieces, frequency of rotation of the diamond wheel and the value of discrete feed of the wheel for cutting) are established. They ensure the inconsistency of the diameter of the balls at 14…19 microns; the form factor of the round shape is about unity, the angle of inclination of the grinding wheel profile line is at the level of -12…-15, the coefficient of curvature of the grinding wheel profile line is at the level of -510-4. It is shown that the design of an abrasive cutting tool intended for finishing a gear wheel (gear grinding, gear honing) must be carried out by the method of successive approximations with the solution of the direct and inverse problem of theoretical shaping at each approximation, which is the essence of the theory of approximate shaping of gears.
