Purpose: to develop criteria for providing financial support to theatrical cultural institutions at the expense of budgetary funds; to form an algorithm for allocating costs based on a criterion-based assessment of the theatres' performance. Research methods: economic and statistical, system analysis, comparison and grouping, generalisation. Within the framework of the research work ‘Improving Criterion-based Approaches to Providing Financial Support from the Kyiv City Budget to Theatre Cultural Institutions’ - work was carried out to update the regulatory framework in the field of supporting the activities of theatre cultural institutions; - a comparative analysis of the main statistical and financial indicators of the theatre cultural institutions of municipal property in Kyiv was carried out; - the main criteria for evaluating the activities of theatre institutions were identified; - an algorithm for allocating budget expenditures for financial support to theatre cultural institutions was prepared; - the algorithm was tested on the basis of data from 13 theatres for 2021-2023. The novelty of the research work is the development of an algorithm for the distribution of budgetary funds to support theatrical cultural institutions depending on the efficiency of their activities. The results of the research will ensure transparent and efficient use of the Kyiv city budget funds allocated by the main administrator to provide financial support to theatrical cultural institutions.
