O. Paton Elektric Welding Institute National Academy of scinces of Ukraine popup.description1 Improving the efficiency of arc welding processes and technologies through the use of specialized pulse actions. popup.description2  Peculiarities of controlling the parameters and form of the multilevel welding current, in which the processes of arc burning, melting of the electrode metal, and discharge of metal drops in connection with the welding of structural steels are separated, have been studied; the efficiency of electrode metal melting with different methods of arc welding and the effect of arc welding methods on the melting coefficient and the rate of melting of the metal of the electrode wire were investigated; the parameters of the welding current pulses are determined, during which there is a significant reduction of losses due to convection and radiation from the surface of a drop of molten metal; by means of computer simulation of algorithms for controlling power sources for impulse processes, a study of the influence of the polarity of the stabilizing pulse on the parameters of impulse stabilization devices of an industrial frequency alternating current arc was carried out; a layout of an alternating current power source based on inductive-capacitive converters was developed; algorithms for the operation of power sources using inducons were developed, which made it possible to effectively control the process of liquid metal crystallization; experimental studies were carried out on the effect of different forms of pulses during welding with a fusible electrode in shielding gases: Ar-100% aluminum alloys and 82% Ar + 18% CO2 low-alloyed steels, the advantages of current pulses in which the processes of melting and transfer of electrode metal droplets are separated were revealed.
