Head Bazyka Dymytrii A., Доктор медичних наук Registration Date 11-02-2025 Organization State Institution "National Research Center for Radiation Medicine, Hematology and Onkology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description1 Identify markers of chronic inflammation, associated with age and the effects of radiation in the remote period after exposure and establish their importance in the development of age-associated diseases. popup.description2 The object of the study is peripheral blood leukocytes of 167 clean-up workers, 167 people in the comparison group - servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and employees of the State Specialized Enterprise "Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant" (SSE CHNPP) who were in captivity during the Russian occupation in Chornobyl and 41 people in the non-irradiated control group. Objective - to determine markers of chronic inflammation that are associated with age and the effects of radiation in the late period after irradiation and to establish their significance in the development of age-associated diseases. Methods - immunological, molecular-genetic, cultural, statistical, analytical. Results. The partially common changes were identified in the clean-up workers and the servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which characterize the presence of inflammaging signs (pro-inflammatory status, decreased autophagy, impaired immunological status and regulation of the telomere-telomerase complex), which contributes to the aging of the organism and can be the cause of chronic age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular, metabolic, autoimmune, oncological and neurodegenerative pathologies. The pathogenetic significance of inflammaging, and verified cellular and molecular genetic markers were determined. An algorithm for individualized assessment of inflammaging for predicting the development of age-associated chronic diseases in persons who suffered from the Chornobyl catastrophe and war was developed. The obtained scientific results are the basis for further in-depth study of the molecular-genetic mechanisms of inflammaging in conditions of excessive multifactorial action of stress factors, in the clean-up workers, servicemen and persons affected by military actions.
