The aim of the research is to investigate the patterns of dose formation in non-target organs during medical imaging and radiation therapy to assess the risks of long-term radiation effects in healthy tissues and organs. The research methods include Monte Carlo computer modeling, physical measurements, and analytical approaches. During the study, radiation exposure conditions for patient organs undergoing interventional radiology procedures were simulated for a wide range of equipment types and operating parameters (tube voltage, filtration, focal distance, collimation, etc.). Using Monte Carlo calculations, radiation doses were determined for specific radiosensitive organs (thyroid gland, salivary glands, lens of the eye, brain) and tissues or structures (e.g., red bone marrow, bone surfaces) in anthropomorphic pediatric phantoms of different ages: newborn, 1, 5, and 10 years old. Additionally, a series of experimental dose measurements was performed using physical pediatric phantoms for specific exposure configurations. The results may be useful for optimizing radiological procedures, as they allow for the selection of the safest radiation exposure conditions, considering the anatomical and clinical specifics of patients. Based on the obtained dose indices, the risks of long-term stochastic effects in healthy tissues and organs exposed to radiation during medical imaging procedures were calculated. These risks include the probability of malignant neoplasms and other long-term consequences of ionizing radiation exposure.
