The object of the study is patients with primary and invasive tumors of the III ventricle. The purpose of the work: based on the study of the effectiveness of modern surgical methods of treating tumors of the III ventricle, taking into account the experience of foreign and domestic authors, to improve surgical approaches to tumors of the III ventricle using new tools developed during the work. Tumors of the III ventricle of the brain are rare in the general population . The radicality of their removal, especially invasive tumors, is debatable in view of possible disability, expected duration and quality of life of the patient in the postoperative period. Surgical treatment of primary tumors of the III ventricle allows to achieve radical removal without neurological complications, and invasive ones - mostly consists in their biopsy, which is caused by their primary growth zone from functionally important areas of the brain (basal ganglia, thalamus, etc.). Scientific novelty: Improvement of existing surgical approaches with the use of tools developed by the authors makes it possible to improve the results of treatment of patients with tumors of the III ventricle. The use of advanced endoscopic transcortical transventricular access makes it possible to visualize important anatomical structures of the III ventricle, to perform the maximum safe removal of the tumor from the cavity of the III ventricle and to determine the limits of safe resection of the tumor, to perform triventriculocisternostomy in order to prevent the development of hydrocephalus in the future.
