The aim of the work is to study the ability of microorganisms to develop in hydrocarbon fuels and biofuels, as well as to investigate the change in quality indicators of light petroleum products during long-term storage. The tasks of the conducted research work are: to conduct a literature review on the change in quality indicators of hydrocarbon fuels during long-term storage and their susceptibility to microbiological contamination; to analyze existing experimental data on the change in fuel quality during storage; to determine the susceptibility of light petroleum products to microbiological contamination; to familiarize with the methods of research on light petroleum products; to isolate microorganisms from fuel samples; to investigate the level of fuel contamination using visual methods; to investigate the change in the quality of light petroleum products during long-term storage; and to study the changes in the physicochemical properties of fuels due to microbiological contamination. The work involved research that identified factors that significantly affect the processes of change in the physicochemical indicators of light petroleum products under operational conditions. The analysis and interpretation of the obtained data allowed for the development of recommendations for improving the technology of long-term fuel storage and effective management of reserves during their extended storage.
