The reserve is being created to preserve the valuable natural landscape complex of the first and second floodplain right banks of the Stryi River in Predkarpattia. This complex includes habitats of hygrophilous vegetation and rare and endangered species of plants and animals from the Bern Convention list, which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. The choice of the landscape reserve category is due to the complex nature of the conservation of local meadow, forest, and aquatic natural complexes and their biodiversity as a single holistic and interconnected landscape that requires the preservation of all its components, as well as the preservation of 15-20-year-old self-sown forests with Scots pine.
