AGE, WORK STRAIN, EXTENDED WORK HOURS, NIGHT WORK HOURS, PROPHYLAXIS, CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, NERVOUS SYSTEM The object of the study is work strain. The purpose of the study is to reveal the age differences in the work strain maintenance under extended and night working hours and to ground the preventive measures. Research methods are informational, hygienic, psychological, physiological, chronobiological, mathematical and statistical. Based on studies of long distance truck drivers and surgeons under 24-hour shifts, it was first established that the age-related increase in work strain, reflecting the increase in the physiological cost of work, occurs not linearly, but transformatively - through the transition to a new level of functioning of the body at the age of about 40 and the involvement of new mechanisms to maintain the work strain: the self-assessment of work strain increases (p<0.03) and the list of correlates of work strain in younger and older age groups almost completely differs, with the exception of those common to both age groups - an increase in the feeling of fatigue, stress, anxiety, and a decrease in work capacity. It was first revealed that the physiological maintenance of the increase in strain in the functioning of the heart muscle of drivers after 40 years occurs due to an increase in the relative proportion of vagal innervation, which was observed in the control group after 50 years, and in the literature is associated with a deterioration in the efficiency of mental activity, adaptive resources of the circulatory, sympatho-adrenal, and nervous systems. The age-related increase in parasympathetic cardiac reactivity known from the literature makes it possible to preserve the functional capabilities of the heart, and its earlier implementation in drivers may indicate accelerated aging of the heart muscle - processes that begin most pronounced Product Description popup.authors Antoniuk Anna Yu.
