The aim is to investigate the participation and interaction of the gas signaling molecules hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and nitric oxide (NO) in the mechanisms of pathogenesis of primary glaucoma in modeling the disease in rabbits and to study the effect of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) blocker zofenopril as a source of H2S on the metabolism and course of the pathological process. Research methods and equipment - pathophysiological, biochemical, ophthalmological, statistical analysis, spectrophotometer SF-26, Spekol 11, 21, 210, pH meter "Seven Easy", laboratory scales FEN - 1000, torsion scales BT - 500, TW-2, T-4, thermostat VEB NBE, UH-8, centrifuge "MPW-310". Results and novelty. The results of an experimental study on a disease model have established for the first time the role of the gaseous transmitter hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the pathogenesis of primary glaucoma, and have also revealed for the first time the effect of H2S on the metabolism of another gaseous signaling molecule - nitric oxide in glaucoma target tissues of the eye (drainage zone, retina, optic nerve). The positive effect of the ACE inhibitor zofenopril, as a potential donor of physiological doses of H2S, on the hydro- and hemodynamics of the eye in experimental glaucoma, as well as on the pathogenetic links of metabolism, has been shown for the first time.
