The purpose of the research work is to improve the design of a combined soil tillage unit with its adaptation for the cultivation of old, over-compacted, erosionprone soils. In the course of the research work, the proposed combined chisel deep cultivator in the main tillage system allows, without significant financial costs, to increase the efficiency and quality of preparation of old arable soils prone to erosion, adapting these processes to the principles of biological agriculture. The main advantage of using chisel deep cultivators is to improve the infiltration properties of the soil, which contributes to the penetration of moisture into the lower horizons in the autumn-winter period and the formation of the necessary moisture reserve. This, in turn, allows to reduce the problem of moisture deficiency during the vegetation period of plants, which is extremely important for the agroclimatic conditions of the Kirovohrad region. The practical use of the developed chisel deep cultivator in typical technologies of growing agricultural crops contributes to the preservation of the fertility of old arable soils, improvement of the aggregate composition of the soil, accumulation of moisture in the lower horizons and combating the threats of wind and water erosion. Systematic application of the proposed technologies contributes to increasing yields. Performing deep tillage allows to reduce the costs of growing crops by reducing fuel and labor costs, and also improves the quality of soil cultivation. An additional advantage is the uniformity of soil cultivation over the entire depth thanks to the loosening working bodies of the unit, which provide a high-quality field surface in accordance with agrotechnical requirements.
