The relevance of the topic is determined by the insufficient analysis of the historical-literary and theoretical concepts of socialist realism. It is about the analysis of individual figures of representatives of socialist realist literature, various forms of creativity, styles, genres, as well as issues of the connection between literature and politics, the role of the writer’s reputation, etc. Among these issues, the phenomenon of the “Soviet writer” itself is still insufficiently studied. The work within the framework of the topic aimed to analyze the phenomenon of the “Soviet writer” and the forms and stages of substantiating the theory of socialist realism, particularly in Ukrainian literature. At the same time, it was important to trace when and how the concept of the “Soviet writer” is formed, describe the mechanisms of entry into the official canon, investigate how the marginalization of non-canonized authors occurs, find out what the phenomenon of the dissident author is, what role reputation plays and how it is formed. The key theoretical category in this case was the concept of artistic and aesthetic practices as a set of techniques and mechanisms that determine the creation of a cultural product. This includes forms of creativity, ways of interpreting literature, as well as dependence on social and political orders (requests). According to the set goal, as a result of the implementation of the planned topic, methodological foundations were created for postcolonial and interpretations of the phenomenon of socialist realism, the artistic heritage of writers of the Soviet Ukraine period.
