The goal of the project was a comprehensive experimental and theoretical study of the processes of formation and behavior of nanoparticles in non-equilibrium plasma of several types of gas discharges (direct current, radio-frequency capacitive and inductive, pulsed, and their combinations). The main attention was paid to the study of the physical processes of formation of nanoparticles in plasma and the development of principles for controlling their size and spatial distribution. As a result of the project, physical and numerical models were developed to describe the charge distribution function of nano- and submicron-sized particles in plasma in the afterglow phase. In this case, plasma containing only positive ions, as well as chemically active plasma with positive and negative ions in a mixture of argon and acetylene, were considered. The results of numerical modeling are compared with experimental data from other researchers. The project proposes and investigates a trap that occupies a small part of the cross-section of the plasma flow in an induction discharge but captures most of the nanoparticles, thus preventing damage to the substrate. The formation of plasma crystals observed under non-equilibrium conditions is also explained, and the plasma crystals properties are described. Product Description popup.authors Azarienkov Mykola O.
