The aim of the work to identify and characterize the modern priorities in the receptive interpretive process of a literary text; the impact of social-cultural changes and the development of new forms of verbal art on that process. As a result of the work over the research topic the analytical review of home and foreign investigations concerning the problems of reception and interpretation of literary text was implemented; the modern tendencies and approaches to the interpretation of literary text were clarified and given characteristics; the ways to understanding the receptive interpretative changes in the study of classical and modern literature were proposed. On this basis the analysis of outstanding texts of Western European, American, and Eastern literatures was carried out. The scientific value and relevance of the results obtained is in the analysis and systematization of the changes in the reception and interpretation of classical and modern literature; in the identifying the reasons that determine these changes. The practical value of the results is in the clarification of the modern concept about status and place of literature in the context of the information and media means as a bearer of humanitarian values. The results of the research work have their practical application in teaching the history of the Foreign Literature, while writing qualifying works and dissertations in elaboration of special courses in the field of knowledge “Humanities”. On the basis of the results of the research work 2 teaching aids, a section in the textbook, 11 guidelines, 1 lecture notes were edited; 144 qualifying works (1st bachelor and 2nd master’s degree) were defended; the scientific problems for PHD dissertations were elaborated.
