A review of literature sources related to the topic of fire extinguishing at oil industry facilities was conducted. Some statistical data on the occurrence of fires at oil industry enterprises both in Ukraine and abroad were found. It was established that oil industry enterprises are fire hazardous enterprises. Fires that occur at oil industry facilities often develop quickly and can last for a long time, which creates serious threats to the safety of workers and rescuers involved in their elimination. In this regard, it becomes necessary to introduce new fire extinguishing methods and means, study the state of fire safety at oil refineries and identify promising measures to improve it. At the first stage of the work (October 2024 - November 2024), an analysis of available information and published sources [1-14] related to the issues under study was performed. The data were systematized, the methods and algorithms necessary for further use in the study were selected and adapted. An analytical and theoretical base was formed. During the second period of work (December 2024 - January 2025), experimental studies were conducted to determine the foaming agent parameters, a laboratory setup for generating compression foam was tested, and "sublayer" extinguishing of an oil product (gasoline) fire in a mock-up tank 5 was carried out. Theoretical studies of the motion parameters of submerged foam jets were carried out using the SolidWorks Flow Simulations software product, designed to solve applied problems in the field of thermohydrodynamics by modeling the corresponding physical processes. An application for a Ukrainian patent for the invention "Method for sublayer extinguishing of fires in tanks with oil products using compression foam" was filed.
