The causes of conflict-proneness of regional problems in Ukraine are clarified, related to the specifics of the identity of regions, different socio-cultural values, and mental stereotypes. The potential of regional history as a conceptual model for studying territorial specificity and spatial interaction in historical retrospect. Algorithms for responding to challenges of identity conflicts are proposed in the context of improving and strengthening the information and cultural security of Ukraine. It is proved that in the conditions of the russian-ukrainian war, the problem of identification distancing of the socio-cultural space acquires strategic meaning. Modern territorial conflicts create security challenges for states, the effectiveness of responses to which largely depends on the joint and balanced actions of politicians and scientists. Timely identification of existing and prevention of possible threats to the national security of Ukraine, strengthening the protection of national interests in the conditions of the modern security situation and forecasting trends in the development of the post-war security environment should always be among the strategic priorities of state policy. The results of the study were embodied in scientific products (241,9 pp.). 8 monographs and brochures, 3 collections of scientific works, 114 chapters in collective monographs and articles in scientific collections and magazines have been published.
